New chairmanship of the Foundation
At its board meeting in April 2023, the board of the Ernst-Krenek-Institute-Private-Foundation unanimously elected board member Univ.-Prof. Dr. Nils Grosch as the new chairman and confirmed deputy chairwoman Mag. Gabriele Ecker in her position. The board of the Foundation and staff welcome the new management and look forward to further cooperation.
The Foundation's board is composed of leading personalities with expertise in the fields of musicology, music practice, cultural management, cultural journalism, economics, law, and public relations: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Nils Grosch (chairman of the board), Mag. Gabriele Ecker (deputy chairwoman), Peter Blaha, MMag. Dr. Albrecht Haller, Mag. Anna Maria Pammer and Dipl.-Ing. DDr. Manfred Reichl.
“I am proud to have been elected as the chairman of the board of the Ernst-Krenek-Institute-Private-Foundation and look forward to working together. The music of Ernst Krenek, especially of the interwar years but also of his exile, has accompanied me as a musicologist since my studies. Krenek's originality as a composer, but also as an essayist and thinker, has fascinated me ever since. In recent years, I have been working a lot on the connection between music and mobility. As a refugee, but also before his exile, Krenek was enormously mobile and versatile, both in the spatial sense and in terms of the styles and techniques he used compositionally. This mobility, which many accused him of lacking settlement, perhaps as inconsistency in his creative work, proves in retrospect to be a pool of artistic agency and creativity. Out of this grew a rich and varied oeuvre – an oeuvre that I would like to champion together with the board and the team in Krems.”
