Presentation of the workshop on acoustic memories

After the first edition of the ‘Memory’ workshop in cooperation with the Metaffa dance theatre, we started the second round in summer 2024.

Once again, interviews formed the starting point for the artistic exploration of acoustic memories. The series of interviews was conducted with people who are in the middle of their lives or even beyond: They all talked about memorable acoustic memories, as well as pieces of music that are landmarks in their lives. 
Almost everyone has a connection to music and can look back on a musical biography. Ernst Krenek also describes in many sections of his memoirs ‘Im Atem der Zeit’ (In the Breath of Time) about musical, but also strikingly many noisy events that remained in his memory for decades.

Interviews

Several impressions were collected which served as a musical starting material for an artistic exploration with the dancer Katharina Weinhuber and the music educator Veronika Großberger. Together with the dance theatre Metaffa the workshop instructors related to the contents of the interviews and their own acoustical experiences. The project focused on a procedural approach. The trailer gives small impressions of the workshop.
