Krenek Lectures Online
Parallel to his work as a composer, Ernst Krenek also developed a career as a lecturer. In university lectures, at programme introductions before concerts or in radio broadcasts, he shared his historical and technical understanding of music with listeners in various forms, explaining Beethoven's masterpieces as well as developments of the 20th century up to composition with computers.
“I think that a great deal of the resistance against new music is due to the fact that people know so little old music. If they were accustomed to the idea that there already has been an immense quantity of music that sounded different from Nineteenth-century stuff, they might perhaps be a little less frightened by the thought that Twentieth-century music again sounds somewhat different.”
With this project, the Ernst Krenek Institute is represented as a partner institution in the Kulturpool, a central search portal for digitized cultural heritage from Austrian museums, archives and libraries.
