POSTPONED: Workshop 'Modular Synthesizer Ensemble'

With the modular synthesizer, analogue sound production becomes tangible and easily understandable. It opens up diverse sound possiblities and an intuitive, creative access to electronic music.

The Modular Synthesizer Ensemble consists of a set instrumentarium of twelve different modular synthesizers. The workshop will be directed by Gammon, a musician and music educator who has dealt with modular synthesizers since the 1990s. The participants receive a
in-depth look into the use of modular synthesizers and work autonomously on the instrument: they experiment, improvise, and develop sounds, noises, and rhythmic sequences. It is the workshop’s goal to collectively prepare a composition in the ensemble, to rehearse, and finally to record it live.

Ernst Krenek’s Buchla modular synthesizer from 1967 will also be introduced in the workshop. It is the only Buchla synthesizer from this period in Austria.
