Opening of Salon Krenek at the Long Night of Museums
We cordially invite you to celebrate the opening of Salon Krenek, which has been established as Ernst Krenek Forum in 2008, at the Long Night of Museums on Saturday, October 2, 2021.
The new exhibition displays the life and work of the composer and writer Ernst Krenek with theme panels, exhibits, listening samples, videos, and interactive stations.
Take a stroll through Krenek’s living room in a digital reconstruction of his house in Palm Springs, get to know his wide personal network, learn more about private and personal issues, and follow his musical career. His openness to new styles makes his work a unique reflection of 20th century music history, from late romantic and twelve-tone music to compositions for tape with electronic sounds. A special rarity can be seen at Studio Krenek: Ernst Krenek’s Buchla Modular Synthesizer series 100 from 1966/67.
Curator tour at 6 pm and 8:30 pm
Listen to anecdotes and stories of the life of the multifaceted artist and visionary by curator Clemens Zoidl.
Concert, at 7 pm
Pianist Ines Schüttengruber plays works by Ernst Krenek on his Schweighofer grand piano from the 1930s. You will hear hidden treasures from the archive.
