Eva Maria Stöckler gave a lecture about Austrian identity in Ernst Krenek's work
At the annual conference of the Austrian Soceity for Musicology Eva Maria Stöckler held a lecture on the musical construction of Austrian identity in Ernst Krenek's work. His Reisebuch as den österreichischen Alpen op. 62 from 1929 offers particularly sharp insight into the ways he consciously grappled with his home country. Krenek, who emigrated to the USA in 1930, "hovered" between two continents, sitting on the fence, "which may be the only humane place after all."
