“Every Goal is a New Beginning” – Perspectives, Discussions, Music

Ernst Krenek Forum live on Thursday, 26 April 2018 at 7 p.m.

The Ernst Krenek Forum opened its doors ten years ago: as an exhibition area, event location, and cultural center for music, education, and dialogue. Not only is an anniversary to be celebrated in 2018, but we will also be taking a look with new perspectives at the coming decade. In April 2018 the long-time director of the artistic administration of the International Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg, Petra Hinterholzer, assumes the general secretary of the Ernst Krenek Institute and the direction of the Ernst Krenek Forum. Together with the chairman of the Ernst Krenek Institute Private Foundation, Ernst Kovacic, she will speak about experiences, perspectives, and visions. Tenor Alexander Kaimbacher and pianist Till Alexander Körber will provide the musical framework for the evening, performing selected pieces from Ernst Krenek’s Reisebuch aus den Österreichischen Alpen (Travel Book from the Austrian Alps), op. 62.

When Gladys Nordenstrom Krenek asked Till Alexander Körber to complete the orchestration of Ernst Krenek’s Reisebuch Ernst Krenek had arranged eight of the twenty songs during his lifetime – the experienced Krenek expert did not hesitate very long and accepted the fascinating task of finishing the instrumentation entirely in the sense of the composer. On this evening, he will report about his approach and the challenges involved in such a commission.

The premiere of the orchestral version with Alexander Kaimbacher and the Webern Sinfonietta of the MDW (Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts) under the baton of HK Gruber can be heard on 13 October 2018 within the framework of the festivities in honor of the tenth anniversary of the Ernst Krenek Forum.

The evening will be moderated by Eva Maria Stöckler (director of the Center for Applied Music Research of the Donau University Krems).

The events series Ernst Krenek Forum live invites you to enjoy, listen and join in over a glass of wine in a pleasant atmosphere.
